OK, I know I've hinted at this before.. Now I'm at the point where I need to get it straight. I would greatly appreciate someone who has done this to give me the straight up.
OK, my 94 900 rr 893cc is smoked, I have found a 919cc with everything that is need to run except the gas tank, for a fair price. I've heard that it is a direct bolt up. If someone has done this, I'm sure there is alot of guys that have done this with the number of 893cc motors getting smaller all the time. I'm not interested in even an intermediate modification job. Like I said the motor has everything, including the radiator, fan that it needs to run, except the Gas tank, and exhaust. The motor has 17K miles on it and was an everyday driver before being removed from the bike.
OK, is this a direct bolt up? Is it correct to say that the difference is the displacement? If it not a direct bolt up, what are the differences/mods needed? I will be having a Mechanic do the engine replacement.
Any information from experience would be greatly appreciated.

Oh ya, I'm styill looking for the answers for though. Just incase this guy is also thinking I was born l last night. The main reason I'm asking these question is this, everyone trying to sell are trying to get the same price as a reman motor. I'd probably buy the reman if I wanted to pay that much, and that I found a motor at a reasonable price.
So, anything that anyone can help me with on the answers.

anyone I'm running out of time on the 919cc and the thread jumper is obviously not going to reply. Besides I'm actually against buying stuff out of Houston, got screwed the last two times.
So, how much modding will it take to put the 919 in the 94 that was origional with 893cc?

What year is the engine?
As far as I'm aware there's no modification required at all. The engines are the same. One difference is that the 919 has the speedo sensor in the transmission instead of the front wheel - but I can't see that affecting it at all.
You should have no problem using your original radiator, carbs, exhaust system, etc.

Thanks Brother, I just remembered the last two times I bought stuff out of Houston.
One was when I was looking for a CBR: I found one one cycletrader, and made arrangements to buy one in Houston. It's a 6.5 hour trip one way from here. I called and made arrangements to buy one, contingent on the item of course, and had a saturday date to be there. So I borrowed a trailer from a friend, put new tires on it. We split that since I borrow it sometimes, and I don't mind helping out folks who help me out. My son and I, since I didn't want to drive 13 hours round trip alone, got up at like 3 am to get down there and the guy calls me at like 4 am as we about to head out the door to tell me it had been stolen the night before. OK, first the timing is suspect, and why not call the night before if it was stolen so that I would not get up 5 hours early?
Then their was some photographic equipment that turned out the person had no idea what they were selling, and I had to ship it back because it was not what they advertised.
I'm not saying your buddy is any of those, but history with Houston and I have a trusted friend in Plano that already has eyes on the 919cc. Nothing personal to your Buddy.

Thanks Blade. This is the way I'll probably go then. If It winds up I can't get this setup to replace my engine, then I'll have a part out 94 cbr900rr to sell. I'm really been eyeing the cbr1000rr later models anyway. Also, I still have a cruiser. SO, It won't be heartbreaking for me.

ok well I didn't get the 919 in plano.. So, I finished with it. I have a 94 900rr for sale I'd like to get 800 for the whole thing as parts. a person with more skills and tools than me couls rebuilt or replace the head, and go through the engine and have a fine 900rr.
I'm more interested in riding. I'm probably going to be looking for an 06 or newer 1000rr. I'm into FI. and something that I can do maint on, through my leg over and ride. These older bikes are to much work anymore.

Don't blame ya. I used to have an 04 1000rr (totalled) it's insane fast even compared to my 929.

GL with the 900rr sale, create a new thread and add pics. I'm sure someone would buy it for $800 even not running.
Yep, and at 280 LBS. (Again not "fat turd riding". I workout 5 nights a week, run 1 15:30 2 mile @ 44 years old, and bench 405. and I'm 6ft. 2 to 3 inches. Sorry people tend to freak out and think people are "Fat turd riding" when they say 280 lbs. I'm no model, or body builder though) the 1000rr will have even more to be able to carry me. Not that the 900rr didn't, but the 1000rr with the modern technology and such should be a smoother power. The 900rr is an awesome ride, I could power wheelie in second, sitting all the way up to the tank. However, and FI system is a lot smoother control. If not a Power commander can smooth it out.
I'll post it up and I'm going to list it on Craigslist, and Cycletrader. Way I see it it has both wheels are 17 inch, the seat has a little gel modification, The plastics are not cracked (The part that goes around the tail light is missing) but I mean $800 should be reasonable for a parts bike with the parts getting harder to find.
