i personaly am using something like the second link. The pull power is more than enough....I think you are wiring something wrong if you are getin melt down!It should only get curent for a split of a second...then its not powered.Double check your wiring.

Gravedigging a bit... but I just got my bike. It has an aftermarket undertail on it (not positive which one) and I can't get into my trunk. I'm not sure if the lock uses the ignition key or the other key that was included, which is a short brass colored key.

If I can get in, I'd really like to do this mod. Any ideas?

Not much room there and I'm not sure exactly where I should be headed in. I don't want to scratch my tail to hell and tear up the seat any more than it is. Anyone have pictures of what the trunk looks like? I tried google image but I didn't find what I was looking for.

If you could install an ultra high tension spring in the hing and move the switch to one handle bar, it would be an ejection seat for your passenger! this is pretty darn cool, once I get the issues with my bike pinned up, i might have to do this also! :thumb:

i actually have this on my 929. but when ever i push the button the trunk does not open but i hear the motor clicking any idea
You probably have this taken care of by now but it sounds to me liker there is not enough tension on your cable. After seeing this write up and watching the video, I just got done doing this mod today and works great! I used bicycle shift cable and housing ($3.99) rather than brake cable and housing because it was stiffer. I bought an actuator off of eBay ($5.00 w/ shipping) and I bought a momentary, flush mount switch for $10. Took me a couple of hours to install with trial and error on fitting the correct cable length.

Finally got round to doing this Mod. So simple, so cheap and yet so effective too.

Cost about £10.00 in the end! Ebay for the actuator and waterproof switch, local bike shop for the brake cable and the shed for the cables and fuse holder!

If you haven't done it yet then get a move on :rotfl:
