Still building my 929 up but remember that people were saying it moves alot and a damper was recommended. So my question is whats a good damper as I've never really needed one on my 250 or 900rr and i dont really know to much about them :patriot:

i got a GPR on my 929, I like it alot, but if i had to buy another 1 i would try Scotts. Scotts have 3 different adjustment nobs, GPR only has 1 and i got the old style that only goes up to 8

alright thanks :patriot:
Gpr is what I use, did the scotts but didn't like how it fell apart, a GPR will be just fine, you would never know the difference.

so in the end would it be how much i would want to spend?
I paid $365 with free shipping, but you might have to do a little work to find it that cheap now. It seems it is almost $100 more now everywhere. Anything under $400 for a good one brand new is a pretty good deal.
I have an ohlins on mine love it, 21 adjustments.the 954 will fit a 929 but a 929 wont fit a 954.my 2cents.

Scotts Steering Damper 2002-03 CBR 954:eBay Motors (item 190350002366 end time Nov-18-09 19:41:12 PST)
I had read about the twitchy steering on the 929 before I bought mine also, and had intended to add a damper.

After doing 6000km's, I don't see any reason to add one. The steering on mine is quite solid, not twitchy at all. Even landing a wheele (on private roads) off-balance is quite easy with no tank-slappers, or much harsh movement of the bars. My .02c.... :)
^^ I agree. I ran a damper for 2k miles and took it off, doesnt do anything except impede.
i have ridden my 929 without a damper, for 7 years.bike would get shakey, when pulling real hard,in the 9-10,000 rpm range, put the ohlins on my bike last year.i will never ride without 1 again.these can save your life, and you can sell it for almost what you paid, when your done.
I rode my 929 without a damper for the first couple of years, i put a damper on and noticed the difference.I wouldnt ride without on its been on for 5 years now...
Defo do the damper thing, i ride at high speed and we have a lot pf pot holes and bumps on bends, mine has kept me the right way up many times. I even snaped the mounting bracket when i hit a hole coming out of a bend snaped it clean in two, a hydro unit set me back £380.00 al in, had to send bits and pics of bike off to prove i hadnt dropped it. The mount was gold coloured they said there was nothing wrong with them and that i was unlucky, but they could not supply another gold one only black....recon something in the pigment causeed the problem me self !
