is it normal that you need to drain the motor oil in order to replace the alternator cover ???? I tought is was a dry compartment ???? at least on dirbike and atv's it is dry So...

yeah its oil filled but usaully i only loose about 1 quart of oil when i take it off just make sure the bike is sittin upright, not on the kickstand. Itll save you a few bucks. By the way anyone got a stator cover for me? lol

Damned thing started leaking on me before I got the oil pan under it... :mad:

I was rather glad I drained all the oil first... and as a side note: make sure you get a new gasket.

I asked two of my friends to help me. We leaned the bike over so the oil got to the other side and they held it in a 45 degree angle while i changed the cover. It works on both sides.

I got sliders so I'm gonna lay it down on old pillows and replace it....
