Why was it sitting for six months?
Could the engine be seized?
Does the engine turn over by hand?
Remove the plugs and you should be able turn the engine by turning the rear wheel while in gear.
The killswitch and clutch switches could be bypassed or corroded.

i hope its not seized it gave a half turn then stopped so it might be

ill try and turn it by hand tomorrow

shouldnt the bike still be able to turn over with the plugs in and turning the wheel in gear?

was layed down but rode it home ran fine then it just sat for 6 months(says the guy i got it from)

It'll turn over with the plugs in but it won't be easy due to compression.
I'd pull them and do a compression test as well since you just bought it. You can also check for spark and replace the plugs while you're at it.
will it turn over if you power the starter motor directly?

He said no but the starter motor turns okay out of the bike.
So either the starter motor isn't getting enough power to turn the engine, the starter motor is getting sufficient power but is breaking down under load, or the engine is too tight (several possible reasons) for the starter motor to turn it.
Either way the important thing is to determine that the engine will turn over or there's little point in fixing the other systems.

Oooops missed that bit*....

But,
actualy ment in the bike/ bypassing the starter solinoid.. in my youth I was always told the solinoids either worked or they didn't. but I've had many now that will klick(suggesting they working) but dont open fully:crap:....

my duke one did this would klick loudly but not open (or is that close?:idunno:)

... as It's christmas, I was banking on the chrismas naritive kicking into play and it being an easy fix:D:D**

*should learn to read, well obsorb what I read:rotfl:
**wishful thinking I know, but its worth a try:D
ok so i took the stator cover off and i managed to turn it over then i realized the gear thats in between the starter and ?Flywheel? came fallin out.

i replaced the gear and now it will turn over in gear but i think the starter went out cuz its still seemes like the starter still just doesnt have it in it,

do you think when it gave a half turn in the begining of all this was the last of it?

lmk what you guys think i directly powered the starter and it just clicks and tries but wont turn
I've got a dumb question for you. Have you made sure that you have a really good connection on the battery?

It's not unusual for the idler gear to come out as the shaft is held in place by the cover. I don't understand what you mean about that affecting whether it turns over in gear though.
If the engine turns over by hand and the starter motor works when powered directly but not when in the engine then I would look at replacing the starter motor with a known good one. Until then you will have to bump start the bike.

.Ha yes very good connection

yeah im getting a good one in the morning.

and it wouldn turn over by hand cuz the idler gear somehow got jammed:idunno: i put it back on and now it turns in gear.
