Has anyone bought/installed or known anyone who went for the 'hong kong' type 954 fairings found on ebay? So here is the real question... Do you get what you pay for.. or is it worth paying the extra grand for US plastic?

well.. none of it is US plastic.. but if you want it to look perfect like OEM quality.. then go with OEM.. for the money the hong kong, specifically auctmarts perfect fit fairing are still pretty good.. i know several guys who are more than happy with their choice of affordable fairings..

Wish I knew the answer than that. I'm trying to decide between "repsol" ebay fairings or primered plastic out of florida

they do tend to take a little while to get.. auctmarts is fairly quick but some of the others are not.. a friend of mine waited about 2 months or so for his to come in..

I purchased some hong kong fairings and I am fairly satisfied with them. I purchased a repsol kit. A couple things to note are that it was a pretty tight fit in some spots. It took a lot of finesse to get some of the pre drilled bolt holed to line up. I also slapped them on a stunt bike, so some of this may had to due with a couple of mounts being slightly tweaked, but that still didnt explain all of the effort it took. A few small cracks developed but I took care of them early with plastic epoxy and havent had a problem since.

The plastics look great though and acutally have a paint color scheme that seems to match oem. I have a black and red tank and the colors are spot on.

One final note: the plastics do not come with any sort of heat absobing material (foam on the inside). If yo do purchase them be sure to pick some up. I used DynaLiner, which offers great heat absorbtion and a little bit of sound dampening.

Good luck.

D9 Industries makes some of the best aftermarket, more expensive then the ebay ones but oh so much better. Mine are amazing and they will paint them up however you want.

So are the upper fairings in these Hong Kong kits direct bolt-on unlike earlier. I have read some older threads and have seen how a few people make it possible to attach the headlight to the upper fairing.

I do not have an upper fairing, just he oem headlight (brand new in oem box with no extra bolts) and also the oem fairing stay with all rubber inserts on the fairing stay.

I've seen and installed several of these fairing sets from Hong Kong that are sold on eBay. The best way to describe them is this... If you aren't particularly fond of having a nice bike or maybe you don't have the best eye for details then maybe you would like them. That means they are perfect for stunters, but as far as I'm concerned those fairings are worthless. The fit and finish is sub par; I would never put one on my own bike.

^ i have them on my 900rr, and I would have to say the paint and the finish are excellent... the quality of the plastic, however, is not as good as OEM. They aren't as flexible and don't line up as well.

I noticed while looking last night and today, that there are some that say their kits are made of ABS. Is that true?

What do you plan on doing with your gas tank? I thought I read somewhere you plan on repainting it. How about a trade that had a mishap on the left side, but dent taken out. There are spots that are down to bare metal. Just thought I would throw that out there, and try to save your tank if its totally good.

You can see all of the dent, but not in detail in this pic: Myspace pic
