Ok I have two questions for you guys.

Firstly , I just had the bike dynoed and don't think it made any difference. It has the flapper and htev mid section removed and has a custom mid pipe and pc3 of course. But since I bought the bike and even before those mods it seems to have a sort of stutter of miss when the throttle is just coasting. Hard to explain but just between deceleleration and acceleration. Like the fuel injection is starting to work but not quite. Any ideas? It has new plugs and runs fine at all other throttle positions. Is this just a notchy 954 efi trait?

Secondly what rpm do you guys sit on for general traffic. I don't like screaming along at 8000rpm at 60klm but if you do say 3000rpm the bike is dead and unresponsive.

Thanks in advance. Lee

I assume by "dynoed" you mean it was tuned?
Keep it around 4000rpm, although without the HTEV you might need a bit higher than that for clean response. 3000rpm is definately not going to pull throttle.

Yeah mate it was dyno tuned with a custom map. although I was not happy at all with their customer service, but was just hoping they knew what they were doing..

Any yeah it has always been **** around 3000rpm, but that seems normal due to the htev opening then etc. Thats why I removed it and got it tuned hoping to make it smoother..

It just seems that you need to be in first gear all the time when in traffic other wise the rpm is too low?
But I guess they are a 1lt bike and not built for commuting

My 954 has a Yoshimura 1/2 exhaust, K&N and PCIII. It has a little barely perceptible stumble below 2800RPM, but pulls clean and hard from all the way down low. In my normal commute I shift at 3000-3500RPM no prob. I get 45 mpg out her when I ride like that.

Jardine slip-on and K&N, no pcIII, and mine pulls smooth from idle to redline. Seriously, it is the smoothest bike I have and the acceleration is down right scary.:)

if i get caught at ~3300 rpm, i can feel the transition. when i first got the bike i thought it was very smooth all through, but after more seat time i distinctly feel you don't get into the meat until about 7k

If I were getting 45mpg out of a 954 I'd sell it and get a cruiser.
