hey i am new on this forum, not sure if this thread is in the right place. anyway i just bought a 954 last month, 1500 miles and its been running great. i was riding last night pretty fast and on the way home my bike turned off and the oil light came on. i didnt stall it and the oil is fine. for such a lightly used bike it seems pretty wrong for it to not work. if anyone has any ideas i would be grateful because i know nothing about working on them

Need more information on the situation. Is the motor locked up? Or did it start right back up? You have to realize these bikes are over 10 yrs old they are going to have some issues every now and then. I am not saying the 954's are horrible bikes because they are amazing and I love mine.

it was idling really erratically before it shut down. once it did, i pulled over and turned it off and it started back up enough to make it home. i just went out and started it up and it seems fine, but i was about 15 miles into my ride when the bike shut down, so im not really convinced. right before the trouble started i hit about 114 mph and every other time i've gone fast i havent had any problems

That is some info I can work with. I would say its electrical and I am leaning towards there is a ground loose. Check your batter connections and also many grounds are on the frame right in front of the shock.

I'm guessing on loose or corroded battery terminals.
