I run 40 lbs in all my bikes, sport and cruiser alike. It works for me. I will add that there are variances that would make you want to run a different pressure. Though they would only be really noticeable if you were racing, having a track day, or squirling the back roads really hard. For the average rider a couple pounds pressure, even up to 5, in the tire are not going to effect anything noticeable. I do find that at 40 lbs. I get longer tire wear, and a couple extra miles per gallon without effecting ride or handling. Hope it helps.
