what kind of bike is it for? If you get an aftermarket filter you will save yourself money down the road because most are reusable and offer pretty much the same airflow...maybe even better...and as long as you dont go get a race filter you will have good filtration...Pads...I recommend carbone lorraine...a guy sells them on ebay for decent prices...and a couple online stores have some great deals too...they are the best pads for the buck IMO...id stay away from EBC...their really not that good...and there are a lot of pads out there that offer better performance than OEM for right around the same price
Thx for the advice... I was thinking about aftermarket air filter but heard they don't do anything better than oem and they filter less... If that's d case I rather go oem.... Does anyone know of any filters that have been proven to add power and are good for street use??
the K&N and BMC regular filters will filter good enough to get 100,000 limes out of a bike...you will need to worry about the wheels falling off before you have to worry about the TINY amount of dirt that got in the engine...its the RACE filters that dont filter well...just get a regulkar kn or BMC and you will be fine...m inimal difference between OEM...plus you might see small gains in the higher rpm range...its a fact that cotton filters flow better than paper...the reason whyu some loose power is because the dont have fuel management and it messes with the AFR...ive heard decent things about pipercross filters too...but never used one...

Air filters and pads are both personal preferences.
Stick with OEM for the filter as it makes the most power and protects the engine best.
Pads - I've run EBC for road and race for years on all my bikes.
Tried some others including Carbone Lorraine but never found any advantage to change from EBC.
I know racers that consider the HRC pads to be unbeatable but they are expensive.

Oiled cotton gauze (K&N) and oiled foam air (UNI and discontinued AMSoil) filters are not a good idea, especially on a road bike.
The marketing from K&N sure sounds good, and they do filter better than nothing, though not that much better. They also get very restrictive very fast in a dirty environment.... all while allowing more dirt to pass than an OEM filter.
Donaldson micro-fiber air filters are good, though they are not available for many vehicles. Barring that, I recommend the OEM filter.
