This is one of the most important things I have ever watched in my lifetime. It came out on DVD Tuesday. Go rent it or buy it. Forget your political views for just the duration of this film if you can. This really is something that everyone needs to see. There will be people here you want to spin it but the facts of the film are there. We are going to have major consequences during our lifetimes if things don't change soon.

:rotfl:Yeah it's rhetoric. Polar ice caps are melting, it's all a bunch of tom foolery. Wake up man.
and they melted 90 years ago oh and 140 years ago too . . .

This recent "global warming" is actually less dramatic than the last one (before any type of universal industrialization). Somehow facts and logic seem to escape you . . .

Have you done any research yourself? If so you'd find that the rapidization of this is starting to go off the chart. It is a real problem, scientists around the globe are in unision about this. If you researched it then stated what you did above, then logic and facts have escaped you for a long time. It isn't rhetoric, it's fact. You can choose to believe it or not, but the science is there. They can pull a slab of ice out of the Earth at one of the poles and pretty much give you a blueprint of what is happening. Wake up.

um, I'm up . . . the only scientists that buy into this have an agenda and amazingly, it's the same as yours . . . .

Maybe you need to remove whatever filter you have on your search engine . . .
and BTW, rapidization isn't a word . . .

I don't have a problem with trying to live in a way that doesn't fuck up the planet.. that's just common sense.

However, these climatological geniuses are the same assholes who can't tell you with a 20% degree of certainty if it is going to rain at your trackday next Wednesday. So how, all of a sudden, are they able to discern temperature differentials to the 10th of a degree from records from a century ago, and predict doom with such absolute certitude?

I'll tell you what's missing from this discussion.. words like "we think, good likelihood, possible trend, we could be wrong, but the consequences are dire if we're right," etc.

This unreasonable certainty, this blind, unquestioning, partisan-line faith by those spokespeople who stand to gain by getting government grants and political power sets off my bullshit alarm. If they were Republicans, they'd set yours off-- admit it.

There may well be a problem, but if there is, a person of Al Gore's low reputation ought to get out of the way and let honest people without an agenda lead the public discourse. I notice he wasn't very persuasive as Vice President at getting people from his own party to support the Kyoto accord.

that site is incomplete. it only gave me the choice of "monte carlo with automatic transmission" there were 3 different engine options my year 2 V8s and a V6, big difference in emissions there.

it also makes no mention of motorcycles. recreational use greatly increases your CO2 output.

If you really feel that strongly about it, you should completely give up your car and motorcycle and ride a bicycle. One of my co workers said we dont need cars and could all travel on bikes. I told him ill give up mine if he gives up his first.. he gave a small laugh and then got quiet lol.

Hey now, we shouldn't question the credibility of Al Gore. After all, he did invent the internet...
The funny clincher to that is in another interview when asked if he uses email to keep in touch with people, he said something like "email? Im lucky if i can even figure out how to turn on the computer" lol

:rotfl:You hear something you don't like and recommend the most extreme.
There are vehicles on the market that are PZEV, partial zero emissions vehicles. So you don't have to go without a car. My current car is LEV, but there is also ULEV, and SULEV as well. So when it comes to get another one I will choose one that pollutes less.

I already gave up my bike, last summer. I've cut my monthly driving to 500 miles or less as well. I also bought a house that is 1 mile from the local rail line. When I feel like having a drink, seeing a movie, shopping, or go out to eat I use the rail. I also switched to an electric provider that is 99.3% recyclable. They use wind and solar power.

Well there has been a sharp rise in temperature of the planet. If you lay a chart down that documents carbon dioxide in the Earth's atmosphere, it almost mirrors it. Beyond that, they (scientists) are seeing many ice shelves break in half, and some are melting. The peninsula in the Antarctic is the subject of much debate. The temps have raised at an alarming rate over the last 30 years. Scientists can examine what is happening closely by taking ice samples from the poles and Greenland. The ice captures everything in the air. Here is a good article on the subject.
