I want to replace the fork seals on my bike and I briefly read how to do it in the manual. Sounds a little difficult but I think I will attempt it myself. Besides a seal driver do I need any other special tools? Is there a way to jack the front of the bike off the ground using a car jack? I have a rear stand that should work for the back.

I normally just jack up on the front of the exhuast either on its side stand or using the rear paddock stand. Use a bit of wood when jacking to spread the load and not to damage the metal work.

bro, do NOT do it. i thought i could handle it, ended up costing twice as much to repair and then put it back together. i would just lift up the bike, take the forks off and take them to Honda. mine were only thirty for them to service the pair (after i bought a new damper rod). what kind of bike do you have?

how do you get the rod to compress far enough to screw the top bolt back on? i had everything set perfect i just couldnt repress the d*mn thing.

:plus1: I'm no novice and I'm all about doing my own work... but when it comes to how much of a pain in the ass it is and what a mess it is... I just take the forks off the bike... bring them in... and for a half hour's worth of labor (like $30) and the $14 for the seals your set.

You can look at the new bikes while your fork seals are done knowing this isn't going to happen when you slam on your brakes for the first time:

that pic is unreal, first that it happened and also that he was just taking a picture the moment it gave way.
He's a stunter, note the cage and protective gear, I can totally see how it happened. I do like the look of surprise as his stoppie is about to end in a faceplant...

:plus1:I'm with Matt on this one, I do most of my own work, but when it comes to forks I prefer to take them off the bike myself and let a trusted shop replace the seals. Doesn't cost that much and you shouldn't have to do it that often, unless something is wrong or you're landing hard wheelies.
