The 2002 954 service manual doesn't really mention (or at least I haven't found it) exactly how often to lubricate the clutch, throttle, flapper, & exhaust cables. Anyone do this regulary? Are your cables chaffing

BTW, I purchased my bike used 09/03 with 1680 miles on it (Now has 5500). I doubt if the previous owner ever performed this maintenance because he hardly ever used the machine. Now that it's two years old, I think it needs to be done.

Once a year, generally during my typical fall oil/filter change, wash/wax, wintertime prep. But I don't get too anal about it.

As Chain said, once a year for me as well. However, I just want you to remember, that really means once every 6 months to us snow dogs, so you might want to think twice a year in SoCal.

Does anyone know exactly how to go about lubing cables? Do you have to disconnect? :crap:

The cables do need to be detached in order to lube. The flapper, exhaust, and throttle cables are too small to use the luber on though :crap:
