I know this one has to have been talked to death somewhere on the site but I can't find it.. Just wondering if there were any favourites when it comes to slip ons for the 08/09 blade.. The Yoshi looks good, so to the Akra... leaning towards the Akra at the moment as they seem to back up there pipes with a dyno graph..showing they have done their homework.. Can either be fitted without having to go with a Power Commander..? Thanks for the help

akrapovic is a very good pipe with great quality and power2 for the price...a slip on though will only give you so much power...i bought the FMF because i have always found their dirt bike products very good!!! I love the fmf apex for my 08...i havnt had it dynoed yet but i have the pcv and the map for the FMF and it made a huge different all the way through the rpm range..as for the yoshi..i like them but not my favorite and i think they only look good because of the filler panel(heat sheild) it comes with...i know a guy i can hook u up with that will make you a filler panel custom for any pipe! you can pick the carbon fiber color and weave...very good quality parts...i also like the arata's...arrow...2bros SUCK...D&D are only good at maki9ng noise...MGP SUCK....but to each his own...some poeple like super loud pipes and dont care about power on a bike that already makes 160whp...me...i like a HAPPY medium which is somewhere in the middle and the FMF is a very nice pipe for the price...they are actually on sale for the next month at some places because the manufacturer is offering deals...10 or 20% off??

Hi CBR thanks for the heads up on the FMF, they are a pretty good price..very good with 20% off... Like yourself I am looking for something in between.. I like a good sounding pipe but a lot of what is out there is just too loud... I was hoping to hear a few types before I purchased one, lots of bikes here on a Sunday thrashing through the canyons..but no CBR's... can't believe it..how about your area..? At the price they were selling them I thought it would be CBR's everywhere..! Most I see round here is R1's
So was it the PC that made all the difference or the pipe do you think... or both..? Thanks again, Cheers, Tony

definately both...and i have a air filter on the way...A lot of the slip ons...especially with the 08 and newer make a good difference because the stock headers flow so good...in the past is was easy to fit a full system and get 15-20hp but now your LUCKY if you get 12hp with a full...i tried the bike for a day with just the PC fitted and it made a difference for sure but when i added the FMF and used the DJ map for the FMF...it completely transformed the bike...the nice thing about the FMF is that it was purposely designed for the honda cbr1000rr corona superbike...its not just retrofitted to fit the bike..it was made for it...of course the corona superbike has a great set of high performance headers but the fmf still flows great for a SO and you can even run it without fuel management...but to get the full effects i wouldnt recommend that...dont get the 2 bros...they sound ok but they loose backpressure due to the midpipe design which causes shitty idling and running...if you dont decide to get the FMF..look for a slip on that has some sort of s-bend for the midpipe...this holds the backpressure for the engine and will make your bike run much better...if u go on youtune and listen to the 2bros you will see what im talking about...shitty made..

ya a lot of R1's in the area...quite a few cbr's too but not that many 08 or newer...which i am happy about because i dont want everyone having my bike lol..il post some pics of my bike and pipe..

It all depends on your definition of 'best'! Whatever slip-on you choose will only give a slight increase in power. The main advantage is weight saving from removing the standard exhaust.

Best looking slip on is without a doubt is the Taylormade. Negative points are that it's loud as hell (107db+), very little power gains, expensive!

the filler will cover the piping...i know people say they only give minimal gains but that is usually measured as peak...my pipe gave good gains throughout the entire rpm range with the PCV...peak power doesnt mean all that much unless you spend 100% of ur riding between 9-13K rpm's...i noticed a big difference

yeah theres certain noise restrictions depending on what track you go to but i dont think there are for street use...especially when i hear some of the harley bikes that shake houses as they go by at 30...i swear ther purposely make those bikes horribly inefficient...they are good at turning gas into noise with the least amount of HP and gas mileage possible! i dont think they could get any less efficient..

my dad bought one in his later years and it was a beautiful bike and very loud...but he mostly used it as a show bike...i dont think i will ever be into them though...sorry to jack this thread...back to the subject at hand...the arrow systems are very well made and offer good performance gains..i think they offer baffles too...but i saw a writeup on one and with the baffles in the full system only offered like 2-3 HP over stock which kinda defeats the purpose of the full system

the best bang for the buck on US model 08-10 cbr 1K is the bazzaz zbomb or dynojet IRC...thats the best way to increase ur peak numbers..get one of those and a slip on and you will have the same performance as a full system for half the price

Hi CBR.. the all carbon FMF looks very trick... did you have a picture from the raer 3/4 view..pretty please... It looks very nice on the bike, the one on their web page looks a bit funky.
I am with you on the top end power increase.. damn bike is mental after 10K so I will take your work for any extra over 10K.. What I like the look of is the way it fills the dip around 5K and fills out the power curve under 9K.. probably not important for track day guys but it's nice to have on the street.
Thanks

I have fitted a yoshi race carbon slipon and a K&N fillter with no probs as far as fueling goes had it on the Dyno and power curve was nice with a 165.3 at the wheel also came with a DB killer which I have left out at the mo.
Sounds very nice

Hi Fishboy... stunning looking CBR... unusual color too. You are right about the TM it looks the bollocks no doubt about it... I have been led to believe it is a very loud system with no Db killer if you need to.. is that what you have found..? Is it any lighter than the stock pipe as it looks to have quite a bit of engineering in it...
Love the Ohlins by the way.... I used to run a Duc 999s with Ohlins and the ride quality was very nice... I like the way the CBR handles much better but talk about harsh ride.. a good bump will have you out the seat, something I never experienced with the Ohlins 999....

heres a pic of it on the bike...when i get the filler panel made and fitted i will post it to this thread...Ya the other fmf pipes dont come like mine...one of a kind!!! the carbon fiber pipe comes with a titamium end cap and the titanium pipe comes with a carbon end cap...but i got a carbon cap from a guy with a titanium pipe and fitted it to my pipe and i think it looks pretty sweet...plus its nice to know noone else has your pipe! i am also thinking of getting some arrow headers for it...ive heard they match up perfect to this slip on and offer good gains...ive always likes the quality of arrow products..but i like the look, sound and price of the fmf and it also has a good build quality
