Friggin' evil rich milk companies. The gubmint is always stooging for them, trying to keep the small guy down so Big Milk can control the world.

Some people believe pasteurization kills some bacteria (useful) and destroys vitamins in fresh-from-the-teat milk.

Not having seen any evidence, I still tend to believe that's true. However, the long storage times milk requires from production on large farms to actual consumption, I favor pasteurization so the bad bacteria that would grow during this time is killed off.

I've had milk on a farm straight out of the bucket (don't go there, BDA) and I think it actually tastes better.

Thanks for posting that moooving story, not-my TB. I'd herd of that type of thing before but figured it was just a drop in the bucket. It's bad when you can't share your milk, especially when it gets past your eyes. Wouldn't want anyone to get hoof and mouth disease, ya know.

(p.s. should I warn my earth mother neighbor? she buys raw milk for her kids from some guy here in town. swears by it (tho her kids are no less sick than the rest of the kids) Is my organic turkey guy next on the hit list??)
