hi  everyone  can anyone tell me about the brakes on a 99 model blade i have to really stand on my back brake to get a responce but then someone told me that the front brake works the back aswell just like the blackbird is this true or do i need new brake pads  also i,am looking to buy a tail pipe can anyone let me know of a good one not to loud but would make a improvement   thanks for the help

Definitely take a hard look at the rear pads, maybe show us a close-up pic. Air in the lines and/or old fluid could be an issue, as well as simple gunk build-up in the calipers.

The fireblade has never had Honda's linked braking system. Only the foot pedal will work the back brake.

the rears will never give you the same stopping power as the fronts, but be careful they are normally fairly easy to lock up if trying to slow the bike up heaps with just the rear
