I'm ready to pick one of these tires but i don't know if the price difference is worth it.  

Anyone have both tires, that can give me some feedback??Performance/tread wear/cupping issues??

Are the differences of the tires worth the difference in price??

I've used both and can't really tell any difference. Same as with the 012G (Honda OEM one). They feel about the same, and wore the same.

I've used the 12ss and like them.  Probably my fav street tire. I didn't have the reg 12 (oem) on my 954. Heard is wasn't as good but who knows?  

Why a 190?  I recommend the 12ss in a 180.  Trust me!  That combo really agreed w/ my chassis.  Quick turn in and very stable.

Don't remember where but I have seen the a set of 12ss (180) for 180$ online.

I'm on my 3rd or 4th (i forgot&#33 rear 012ss. I liked them. Quick to warm up (good for streets). Wear is ok if u put 35psi and above. If u put below than that, grip is not much better than the rate of wear. If u do track days, most of my friends who'd use it said that if u ride VERY hard, the good grip will last u for 6-7 laps and after that the rear will slides everytime u open the throttle. It's good if u practise powerslides often and likes doing it.

But my personal opinion, avoid using 012ss for the front tire. Two of my riding buddies, who ride quite hard, had lowsided at very high speed and at max lean. Dunno what actually the reason but i had read somewhere in the net of a couple of same incident so better avoid it. Somehow the front tire did not perform well enough at max lean. Me myself had xperienced the front slides when i'm at max lean and i only 'touched' the throttle a little bit. Lucky the 954 is quite light so when it happened, i instinctively lift the bike upright t0 recover from it.

I always use dunlop d208gp for my front. Rear dunlop d208gp sucks big time.

BTW my 954 is around 21000 miles now and thank God no problems whatsoever

I've found the 12ss on the front pushed when it's worn out. But the nice thing is they give you enough feedback to feel it push. I normally wear them smooth on the edges. I've had other tires (Pilot Sports) that just let go when you push them hard. So far the 12 hasn't. I don't run them in the back due to wear. With a 12 front and 10 rear I'm able to have them wear out at the same time.

You should try a 180 like others have mentioned. It may work for you and it may not. I tried them a couple times, experimented with pressures. It raised the back of the bike up a bit (had to trim my NWS hugger) since the tire is taller. Made the bit turn in quicker...but I went back to the 190 after having the 180s spin up way to much on corner exits. My track tires are 180, but for the street I couldn't keep it from spinning up.

Yup, me myself also use 190 for the rear. Did not worry too much abt the height though coz i use a 2mm shim to increase my ride height. The 954 calculated ratio for the increased height using shim is times 3. So i get 2 x 3 = 6mm. When the rear is brand new it is quite high, but after it worn dowm a little bit, it's all comes into place.

Looking at my buddies who used 180 on a 6inch rim, i saw the side wall of the tire is quite parallel to the edge of the rear rim. I think i prefer the 190 coz the tire edges stretches outside a little bit. Unless your 180 rear tire on a 6 inch rim is VERY sticky, then i think maybe it's ok. And to talk about spinning on the street when i dont want to spin, it's quite a handful, right?

Anyway, just my personal preferences, that's all. Everyone is free to make choices
