So it always cranks and the pump always primes. Where should I start looking? Does diode failure happen periodically? When it fails does it stop everything else or just firing?

Thanks in Advance!

probably corroded electrics. the two sensors, cam and crank are easy to test. If the pump runs when cranking (after the initial prime) then the crank sensor is sending a signal ok. Cam sensor is on the LH side of the engine at the top (near the cams funnily). on the times it does not start check that there is 12v on the black wire with the white trace at the plug caps and the injectors. you can start by checking this junction block in the loom too! I had no end of problems finding this and was the route cause of my 929 not starting (at random)....
