Decided to have my blade painted. Currently the side fairing foam is in sad shape, weather rot, some area coated in engine oil, adhesive backing is starting to peel. Tried cleaning the foam with simple green to remove the oil, worked okay, but didn't get all the oil out. Besides the paint shop reqested removing the foam to prevent any unwanted paint flaws.

OEM foam is expensive. McMaster Carr sells foam squares that I could cut, but I wasn't sure what density / type to purchase. I may just run without the foam at first and see what happens. I believe the foam is there to limit any vibrations. Not sure if its used as a high temp heat barrier.

Let me know your thoughts.
