Hi everyone

Long time member first time poster

I've been chasing a problem with the cbr now for over a year, bike won't rev when throttle is cracked open, and if rolled on will stop at around 5500 - 7500rpm

Bike had yoshi can and power commander have tried with the commander plugged in and removed still the same

Thanks
Lars

Yeahreplace plugs stator rectifier battery starter relay, thinking it could be the pump but don't want to change that unless positive due to the price

So doing some more playing tocay, seems that the manual says the voltage after 5500rpm should be 15.5 volts, can anyone confirm this? Mine only goes to around 14.3 14.5 volts and the revs die around 7000 rpm if I crack the throttle, If I open the throttle slowly it will free rev till red line

hmm you might be on the money with the fuel pump.

Not sure on cbr but my bandit had a very hard to get to little known about filter inside tank by the pump.
Are there/is there a filter somewhere you poss missed?

The theory here being that its (a filter) passing fuel ok at low rpm but cant meet the demand of higher rpms?

Yes that's my theory, if I could find someone with the same bike in Brisbane and borrow there tank / pump to test the theory would be easy, they I know if I'm barking up the right tree

Okies so I've just replaced the fuel pump and still the same problem, checked fuel pump voltage ok check temp sensor voltage ok check tps ok, left airbox top open and revved bike and watched that the top 4 injector (secondary) and at no point do they open at half throttle cracking throttle etc, bike revs to about 7000rpm

That's a bummer on the pump mate, but now you say the secondary injectors not opening, well theres your problem, AFAIK they should kick in above 5500rpm.

What's causing it, off top of head I couldn't say without looking at a wiring diagram, but I'd take a guess that it's electrical, something holding them off, I'd be looking at all the connectors right back to ecu, check there's not a fuse involved either.

Fwiw, at least you have a common factor, as in all 4 not functioning, better than if one or two were.

I'll try get a squiz at a diagram over weekend n see if can throw some light on it

Mate just had a look at the diagram, n secondary injectors, (apart from earths) go right back to the black connector on the ecu or ecm as my Haynes calls it.

Take that of n check no bad connection, dust, insects etc ....

Apart from that mate, I'm out of ideas.

If that don't work n was mine, think I'd be looking for a wrecker with an ecu who let you plug it in n try it.

Sorry mate

Good luck

Let us know how you go

Resolved the issue, seemed the cause was the inline filter (black box) have installed a generic fuel injection filter and made my own lines etc up, bike runs like a dream and bloody scary :)
