I was in the local dealer today and they showed me a tech bulletin. About the Speedo problem that many others have reported. If your speedo gets off then there is no repair for it at this time and to make it worse it can take place at any time. They are reportedly 23% off when they do malfunction. However on a positive note this problem does not effect the odometer according to honda. To tell if yours is correct here are the numbers you should be reading at 4,000 rpm (If you read these numbers it is correct)

1st gear 29mph, 2nd gear 38mph, 3rd gear 46mph, 4th gear 53mph, 5th gear 59mph, 6th gear 64mph.

Once again if you read these numbers the speedo is correct however they said this issue can begin at any time so just keep an eye on it so you will know.

Thanks Nillotuc :thumb:

from what I've heard it only affects bikes with mph capability but to be on the safe side I've converted the figures you have so those working with km/h can check too.

1st gear: 46.4 km/h
2nd gear: 60.8 km/h
3rd gear: 73.6 km/h
4th gear: 84.8 km/h
5th gear: 94.4 km/h
6th gear: 102.4 km/h.

Heard the same thing about a TSB from my dealer also. We'll see what happens, only about 550 miles on the clock so far. :idunno:

I look to be able 2-4 km fast on the 1-2-3 gears. But that doesn't seem to be too bad compared to the big percentages I heard they can be off by with this problem.

One thing I picked up from the xls-sheet is that in Euro-1000RR's we have 16/40 gearing as default. US different again? Maybe this is why CBR1000RR is winning top speed in many tests here in Europe and losing them US
Wauu!! I thought my 929 came with low gearing with it's 16/42... 16/40 sounds really low.. Not doubting it though.. I have tested the 1000rr, and it's strong as h**** :D

Wouldn't 16/40 actually be higher gearing?
