under the seat, all you should need is a phillips or possibly even a flat head screwdriver...

changing battery on cbr 1000 2009
Hey new here obviously....need some help if poss...need to change battery on a cbr 1000 2009 model. What tools will I need, dont have the bike in front of me, have to go out and do it in a parking lot? Also is the bettery under the seat? sorry bout the lame questions, but any help will be appreciated.

lus1:the person who rode it last said they left the lights on or something, so everything is totally dead when i turn the key. i assumed it was the battery.Why do you need a new battery so soon?

No. The bike is just sitting in a parking lot, dead, and I dont have many tools or anything to screw around with it...so I think if I just swap the battery then it will start up and im outta there. thats the hope anyway.......another stupid question ..how does the seat come off? I saw the key release for the little back seat, but the main seat should slide off after the little seat is off ? I havent touched a bike in 10 yrs so i feel like an idiot but thanks again
it bolts on
pull up both rear corners of the seat and youll see possibly 2 5mm allen screws
then a 10mm socket and 1/4" driver or phillips screwdriver for battery post

You could also jump start it off another bike or car which would save you needing to remove the battery.

lus1:easier than anyone thought, only tool needed was a philps head to take the seat off and the battery connections off, the battery itself was held down by a tight strap. ease of maintenance, honda is the best
The battery access may be easy but the oil change doesn't at least not compared to older CBR's. Look under the sticky's or similar thread and you'll see the '08-'10 isn't easy for general maintenance compared to past CBRs.

IF thats the case Id bet its to make something else easier to get it...either way I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was....the honda dirt bikes were always far easier to work on than the other brands too. yr vs yr one might be easier than another, but vs the other brands Id say honda has the best ease of maintainence and ease to work on.The battery access may be easy but the oil change doesn't at least not compared to older CBR's. Has the new battery worked? I'd have jumpstarted the bike as Blade said - could have saved you a new battery.

dont remember the make,. got it at lee's cycles in san diego for 115.00. works fine. Im sure the old one is good will just charge it and have an extra I guess.
