I've had an iPod 40gb for about two years now, awesome mp3 player. Anyway, it uses a hard drive instead of solid state memory to store the music. I want to bring it with me when I mountain bike, and keep it in my camelback. I'm not sure what kind of vibration/shock this thing will withstand. I'm assuming if it's in my camelback, the natural suspension of my knees and body will absorb most of the shock and vibration from my bike. I haven't been able to find much info on this except that the iPod reads the songs from hard drive to cache, then plays from the cache, so the hard drive doesn't really spin that much during play. I'm guessing it'll work fine for what I want, does anyone have any personal experience with this? So far I've only used the thing in my car, and at work, low shock and vibration enviroments. Thanks

How much has changed in them? On the iPod Video, we have an arm-band case for it to use while exercising/jogging/bicycling, so I would think it could handle the movement.

Also, I think 2OHOH had an older one in the tank bag of his 954, sitting on a foam pad, and it worked well.

I don't think you'll have any problems (other than not hearing that car that's ready to run you down) with it.

I've had mine in my pocket on a stationary bike and not had it "skip".

My GF runs with an earbud out while on the streets. I think it's a good compromise. :music:

I love music, but for some reason not on the bicycle. :idunno:

I have crash tested mine skiing and while I am not sure if it skipped or not (mind was on other things) it still works today. The only thing is that the battery needed replacing (of course it is a second generation so that is not bad)
