I just bought a 2001 cbr 929 and has had issues on start up. When the bike is cold the engine will start but after a few seconds there will be a mechanical clunk that causes the engine to drop about 300-400 rpms then go back up to normal idling speed also the idle will fluctuate quite a bit without making that sound. It does the mechanical sound about 3 to 4 times before the engine reaches operating temperature. When it does reach operating temperature there is no issues with idling all the way to WOT. By the way there are no blinking lights. Any ideas? Could this be the MAP sensor? FPR? Thanks

Update!! Rode the bike today and then all of a sudden the bike has a vibration. Not too bad of a vibration but enough that my hands fall sleep. This is at idle all the way threw WOT even with the clutch pulled in. Any ideas? I'm stumped.

Sounds like it could be a issue with you cam chain and /or tensioner, had similer sound, my chain and tensioner were shot as were both gears..

I was taking a look at the CCT and what is the best way to replace it? It's behind the frame a little. Do you guys take the gas tank and airbox off?

I'm kidding, first things first, you need to locate a Haynes manual (they'll be your bible honestly, I'm always reading my ones)

They should give you a broken down sequence of it, whilst your waiting for it to be delivered some one may have written up how to change one on here so its worth doing a check (doesn't mean to say don't buy a manual - i've got most of mine on CD)

There was a vibration on my sons RXS which I couldn't pin point until I realised that the rear nut holding the wheel had come loose (had a tyre put on so never thought about checking it until I lubed the chain.

Was going to suggest the weights on the front wheel but he is experiencing it when even when at idle.

Hmmm, my 954RR has always been a bit vibey and rattly (even more so when the clutch is out)... Have you altered the engine mounts (may have added crash bungs etc?)

The previous owner put on frame sliders. I'll double check on the bolts to make sure they are tight. I bought a manual cam chain tensioner and downloaded the manual. Thanks for your response guys really do appreciate it. Especially Twin Cam the comedian
