Very similar from that side. I do find it interesting that the front fairing of the 1K to 'take up' a lot of room out in front of the bike. Covers a good portion of the front fender/tire. Think they drew those up together. Black 1K is really pretty nice. I might be able to ride that, maybe. That lower certainly looks low as does the case covers. Hope it doesn't suffer from the same ground clearance issues the 600rr does.

i do like the swingarm on the 600rr better, more symmetrical? and, as for the black paint, if it is anything like the 600rr, good luck, that stuff shows every little scratch.

now let's talk 'mass centralization' and what it means to me after working on that 600rr. all that stuff is PACKED in there. (motor/body)

Ground clearance issues? Do you have any solid evidence to back this up? I have my front and rear tires worn completely to the edges and have not even scraped a peg feeler yet. The bike has no clearance issues, if it does, it's due to an incorrect suspension setup. I strongly doubt Honda would over look such a thing

Huummmm, kay. Do a quick search or 600rr.net and read about everyone looking for ride height in the ear and several people that had case covers getting mauled etc. Yes, almighty honda does in fact make a few mistakes once and a while. When they first had that site going, I can remember racers complaining about it. Not sure how much migrated to the new site but ask around. Not calling you out, just making an observation.

I remember a few people talking about it on there, and most people came to the conclusion that it was incorrect suspension settings.

hard to say, I've worn my 929 edges to nudda, and I still didn't scrape a knee, altho I do deck out my peg feelers/hero blobs.

Yeah, I have heard and seen instances of 600RR clearance issues...  I believe emdee was even talking about it...

However, with my attention span, I didn't see what ended being the solution, if there was one...

EDIT: Its also the same deal as the 929/954 clearance on the side cases... Twins (and V4s even) are better at clearance in this way... The engine and frame are just narrower...

Take a quick poll,

How many serious trackday riders / club racers out there have had that sinking feeling when you realize that your rear wheel just left the ground, and you're on the stator cover?

The 929, and 954 have the same clearance issues, and changing the rear ride height made no positive change.

I have tried plates and dog bone + Penske, with no luck. Everyone I know with a 2000-2003 fireblade has the same problems, especially on tracks like Sears Point, where your suspension gets maxed mid corner.

I also have wonderful scrapes all over the right side of the belly pan.

Woodcrafts solved the footpeg scraping, but only serious modification will keep the case covers and body work off the ground. I put a Factory Pro stator cover on to keep the really hard and angular stuff out of the way.

Don't get me started on the Unit Pro Link, there is no such thing as changing 'ride height' with that unit, only swingarm angle... just ask Miguel

Hey crimsoneon,

(thread jack in progress) I'm interested in your experience with 929 ride heigth vs swingarm angle. I'll be upgrading to a real shock in the future and wanted to change both dimensions (abtech has some experience here too). I always thought they were interrelated.

Ride height & dragging body work/parts is an issue with my F4. But I can't imagine that the 600RR is suffering those complaints. Possibly so.

ask Kurtis Roberts about the ground clearances issue w/ the 600rr. Pikes Peak if I am not mistaken.
