On my fireblade the choke does not stay out when you pull it up, it returns back in on it's own. Is this supposed to happen or is it supposed to stay out? I know on my Katana it stays out. Any ideas what may be broken that keeps it out if it's supposed to stay out?

Also someone painted over my position light above the headlight and removed the bulb. I believe they just used spray paint but I am not completely sure. Any ideas how to removed paint from this lens without damaging it? I want it to be a functioning light again.

Any ideas why they didn't put a gas gauge on this bike? I find that kinda strange.

I think the detent is probably on the carburetor linkage.
My ZX6R is the same, doesn't bother me at all.
No idea what the position light is. Try some carb cleaner perhaps - that takes paint off pretty well.
It doesn't need a fuel gauge. Only touring bikes have them.

The position light is above the headlight also called the third light. It is that little light located above the headlight.

Like the water-cooled GSXR's had?
Does it have any purpose?

I was told it's purpose is to let oncoming traffic know that you are on a motorcycle and not driving a car that has a blown out headlight and that somehow helps people to better judge their distance from you. Whether it actually helps or not I don't know, but I figure might as well change it back, maybe it will help.

I just hope that the carb cleaner won't eat the plastic lens itself. If it does I guess I can find one for pretty cheap somewhere.

Might be a stupid question but how do you know when you are low on gas? Just open up the cap and look? Give it the shake test. Will be different for me coming off a bike that has a gauge. Is there at least a reserve on the tank in case you run dry?

You use the trip meter.
My ZX6R has no trip meter or reserve tap so I have to regularly check the level visually. It's not exactly a difficult thing to do :)
