There are no words.

That is just sickening that people are willing to throw away their lives like that.

I will never understand what could be so bad that would make people want to take their own lives. Like the saying goes- 'Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.'

Quote She's from Tochigi Prefecture and met up with the three people who died through an Internet site where the guy had posted a message looking for people who were interested in dying with him,'

I thought the net was a good thing until I read this

I still hold my opinion, that suicide is a cowards way out.

Really? I can't think of anything braver. Those that blame other people, take others in a murder/suicide or make the cops shoot them are cowards.

It is sad but true. There are many stories like that here, often of people who have met over the internet and been found dead in a car of carbon monoxide poisoning. I agree it takes guts to do it, but perceived by those around as a cowardly way out of problems.

In Japan it can be considered an honourable way of causing less problems for those around you, sad yes. Compare the method above to jumping in front of a train: your family has to pick up the cost of liquidated damages to the train company for lost revenue plus actual cleanup costs. That can run into millions of $$$.

Yeah...the Tokyo subway 'Chuo-side line' The number of people who throw themselves in front of that train are disturbing. Can't imagine driving that train. Then there is the Aokigahara forrest near Mt. Fuji where there is an average of 1 suicide a day...they find and total up the bodies at the end of the year. The worst cultural difference here is that when housewives decide to end it they usually take their kids with them...so spare the kids the horror of a shameful (god-forbid) single parent life. Those suck.
We had a pleasant one last month about a mile from my house whereby an unemployed 40-something psycho all of a sudden decided to douse a schoolboy with kerosene and set him on fire when he on his way to school....then ran into his house and set it on fire, waiting on the second floor to die...well...he chickened out because it was 'too hot' and jumped out the window...both are in the hospital....and there is no answer why he did it. Of course, the neighbors all now come forward saying they heard him yelling at night and talking to himself. The economic situation is pushing people to the limit...

Edit: ....and oh yeah...there was another good one 6 months ago in Japan where a guy who strangled his girlfriend got busted at his apartment. He cooly tells the coppers 'Hey, let's not do this here, let's go down to the plaza area outside the apartment complex and I'll tell ya the whole story' whereby Po Po escorts him un-cuffed...they sit down to hear his tale, and he bolts, turns out he's an ex-running club college athelete, fuzz can't catch him and he scurries up an adjacent apartment building to the roof then leaps off and kills his damn self....whoopsie.
