Hello all,

I recently ordered a stator cover, assuming that the motor was around the same year as my frame etc.....

Apparently not, my old stator cover has one gap on one side where the stator actually mounts to, and my ordered part has two. I know this isnt a great description but was hoping some guru would know what I was talking about....

The diameter at which the stator mounts to the cover is different in these years....

wondering if its a slightly older motor...?

What am i missing? :idunno:
Thanks

also in the pic the collar or spacer is this the last spacer that yall have between your rear sprocket and side of swingarm?

and can anyone please help me identify what year motor this is....?

kinda odd found the motor mounts are welded all around....?

The SC28 engine number is 93-95. The cover with the green gasket is the SC28 cover. And yes, that spacer goes between the swing arm and the sprocket carrier on the left side of swing arm.

ian as always man, you rock!

so heres my problem now.....the cover with the green gasket, you say it should fit....but it doesnt.

in the picture with both covers, the cover on the right has a much smaller diameter therefore, the stator wont mount to my new cover....which is now leading me to believe i have a different year stator....grrr...

and that spacer, I knew it.

and any reason why the previous owner would have covered the motor mounts in weld?

thanks ian always on the helpful side.

The stator for the newer motors is a lot smaller and lighter. That's probably why the proper cover doesn't fit. And to weld the motor mounts? No idea, only if they have been broken/cracked.

hahahahahahaha no, no I don't. I actually need a stator and a cover for my 99 900. Just been too lazy to pick one up. I'll be glad to check out the motor mounts when you post them up. :thumb:

Well I really appreciate that Tommy, but judging from those pics it looks like the bolt holes for the stator are all buggered and worn out. Is it just the picture, or are they shot? And with all the Gasket sealer around it would lead me to believe it doesn't seal very well. I appreciate the offer but will have to pass.

alright ian,
or whoever might be viewing....lol

So im a little lost, the cover is similar as the 954s but mine actually has the date 2/24/94 stamped into it and made in canada at the bottom....if that makes any difference...

this is just getting obnoxious trying to find just a stator to buy at a decent price now.

Here's the low down on the stator covers:

93-95 all the same

96-99 all the same

2000-2001 929 only

2002-2003 954 only

The 954 won't work for anything but the 954. Now I have to ask, the cover you need is for an SC28 engine, correct? I'm getting confused now:eek:

Alright guys, so I was looking at some covers for sale....

And even a 95 doesn't look right.

Is there a difference in the Canadian and other covers?

No, Canadian covers are made in the same factory in Japan.
If your cover says "Made in Canada" then it is not OEM.
