-Entering fast corners yesterday- as I downshifted (to second I think) the bike "freewheeled" and there was an awful noise as if the gearbox was full of loose nuts and bolts!-- once around the turn I managed to upshift and continue......

is it my technique / is there a problem with the gearbox- will there be a problem with the gearbox?

it happened 3 times, downshifting 2 gears from pretty quick straights.
it sounds as if theres a bar skipping on top the gearbox cogs trying to find a way in- it also sounds expensive! Is this a " false neutral "?

-other than this the bike seems fine, shifting as normal....

cheers guys?:idunno:

Yes, it's a false neutral. It won't hurt anything every now and then, as long as you match revs before attempting to get it back into a gear, best bet is the pull the clutch, match your revs, and go for the highest of the two gears. Is the bike low mileage? Shifting sucks on low mileage bikes, the trans hasn't broken in yet. If not, was it stunted or abused before you had it? Do you match revs when you downshift?
