Hi everyone. I've been reading a few threads on the subject trying to compare figuresand wondered if we could have a summary of model, bhp, torque, and stock/modified. I just wanted some real-world figures and not too much waffle. I was just rather disappointed that my 929cc model that is making less horses (& torque) than the 1998 918cc rr-w I got rid of!!

eg

rr-w 918cc, 126bhp @10,200rpm, 69lb/ft @8,000rpm, Factory (not Honda!)jetting kit, ART carbon can, Factory airfilters.

rr-01 929cc, 124bhp @10,500, 64lb/ft @8,000rpm, stock bike

well the 900rr had mods, and the 929 didnt, i would say that is the reason for you disappointment wouldnt you. Do a pipe, PC, and get it mapped in and then you should see about 5 more horses on the 929 i would say.

ya, but 150 claimed to a 124 in the real world?! Anyway, just wanted to hear other people's results for a comparison and some idea what mods are working well, like the exhaust valve and flapper, etc. I have a PCIII in the offing, straight through end can, bmc race filter on order, etc, and will see where it goes when set up..........

Your torque figures on the 929 seem low - would have expected about a 70ft/lb figure & this is the most likely reason for reduced peformance.

Maybe she just need a good service - air filter, plugs & clean out the fuel system - to get her right. Otherwise there may be something else afoot like vlave out of adjustment, worn rings, poor compression, etc.

Maybe you should get your engine compression tested?? That would rule out mechanical issues straight away if it was good.

The actual HP #'s are irrelevant and only good for comparison IF they are dyno'ed on the SAME machine the SAME DAY.

Dyno #'s are just that, Numbers. You have to take into consideration alot of other factors in comparing #'s from Dyno's. Some Dyno's are very stingy with giving HP #'s to bikes. They are used mainly to get a base line rating and then test the gains after mods are installed.

I'll do plugs at the same time as the other bits go on. Point taken Hammer regarding different dynos; its would be the increase over their own base figures that I was hoping to get out of people if they had their stock and modified figures.............and what they had done to the\ bike too, of course :)

a dyno is a tool, and as hammer said, needs to be same dyno same day, same temp, same humidity. some will be stingy and some will be leaniant. the best use for a dyno is a base run, then make a change and run it again and compare the differences

Sounds about right for RWHP on a 929. A chassis Dyno measures HP and torque at the rearwheel. Manufacturers will claim Brake Horse Power,(BHP) and Brake Torque. Brake figures are established by connecting the engine output directly to a resistance source and not going through a transmission and drive train.

I know it doesnt mean much since it was on a different dyno and a different day but My 929 made 132hp at the wheel with just a micron bolt on, and it made 128 with a D&D bolt on. everything else is stock. it was on a superflo dyno.
