So anyone have any tips about new exhaust installation? I'm pretty sure I'm just gonna get a 3/4 system so I don't imagine it will be too difficult... just looking for any pitfalls I should know about to avoid.

thanks

If you're getting a 3/4 system there will still be a clamp for the midpipe. Some can be a pain to really tighten up so there are no exhaust leaks. Others have torqued too much and stripped the clamp. I ended up using some muffler repair tape just on the end of the pipe maybe 2" on the ends to make the connection tight and eliminating the leak. That was the only issue, everything else was a breeze, oh except for the HTEV bolt(s), some are a little hard to get to (an angled/swivel socket works well).

Connecting the 3/4 pipe to the HTEV can be somewhat of a bitch. You're going to need a fairly long extension for your socket if I recall.

Allright, cool. I had heard something like to wash the exhaust down after install before first time startup to avoid oils burning into the exhaust itself.. is this bunk?

Other than that, I should be good on tools. Luckily have a Sears about 5 minutes away so anything I need I can pick up pretty quick. :)

Thanks for the info!

u might think of just getting a bolt on .... u could get a full Hindle system for the price of those overpiced 3/4 systems ... its really not a 3/4 system IMO

how exactly do you disconect the htev? do you just unplug the wires and tuck them somewhere or do you disconect them from up above (somewhere else)? i am going to order a new exhaust and want to instal it myself.

Haven't done it myself (I have the 3/4 or "non" 3/4 system and bolts into the HTEV system) but do a search as there is tons of info. If I remember right there are (2) cables coming from the servo (connecting to the HTEV) which you remove along with the HTEV. Not sure of your mechanical ability, you may want to grab a buddy as I've read a full system install isn't a piece of cake (new header, HTEV removal, etc.). Again, do a search, there should be lots of info here. Good luck.
