I've been searching for a while now on a definitive answer to this.

Can I put an F4i front rim on a CBR929. I know the rotor diameter is different, but are the bearings the same? I've got a set of front wheel bearings from allballs, so if not, I'll just change them out and I should be good.

I'm gathering track spares, and don't want to waste the cash if it is incompatible.

Thanks guys.

You would have to replace the bearings and use the 929 axle spacers.
The F4 has a 20mm axle.
Also, check that the 929 discs fit the F4 wheel as Honda made the centre bore very slightly smaller on the 929 discs.
All 1000RR front and rear wheels are direct fit on the 929/954.

Thanks Bladeracer. You're a champ. I knew the answer would wind up coming from you:thumb:

So, 929 bearings, spacers & axle.

Are you saying the rotor bolts may not line up, or the center of the rotor? I could always grind a little off the rotor if need be (hopefully not.)

I may just keep looking for 1000rr rims.

Thanks

The bolt pattern is the same.
EBC lists the 929/954 discs as a 94.3mm bore and the F4i as a 95mm bore.
600RR and RC51 front wheels are the same pattern as well.
It would also be worth confirming the width of the hub between the rotor mounts is the same but I would expect they are.

Wait, so are 1000rr rims a direct bolt on for a 954?
Yes, to at least '07 (I haven't seen '08/'09 wheels yet).
Just use your discs as the 330mm 929/954 discs are larger diameter than the 1000RR (310mm and 320mm). You can use the 1000RR discs though if you want to.

I have '06 wheels on my 929.
They're slightly lighter than the 929 wheels.

I have a vfr rear rim on my 929 would putting a 1000rr front rim make much difference or just stay with the original 929 rim?
I assume you mean a single-sided wheel?
If it is then you clearly aren't trying to reduce weight :)
I haven't weighed the bare 1000RR wheel yet (I did but didn't write it down) but it'd only be marginally lighter. If you already have one then use it but I wouldn't go chasing one up.
