it's an aluminum block right? and i've no idea how many years it's been like this or how much alumina has built up. i'll have to take a lot of that off but just want to make sure it's ok to weld cast aluminum.
well it's not attaching to the frame. this mount is on the bottom of the engine. I've never welded cast aluminum. with cast iron there's a lot you've got to do for heat, i dunno if aluminum is the same way. I assume someone here has had this exact trouble.
I would probably try JB weld first. Welding aluminum is a tricky endeavor. It’s not too load bearing and it’s out of sight, so an “extra dose” of JB might hold it on there forever.
Aluminum has to be clean to weld or it will never hold. It’s also not the easiest metal to weld either. I would definitely clean it the best you can and do what iandoohan said with the jb weld. Or if you have a automotive bodyshop supply store stop in and ask for 2 part panel bond for aluminum.
I have the same issue on my 929 after dropping it at Donnington Park circuit. I've tried chemical metal and all sorts and cant get it to stay put! What's JB Weld btw?
J b weld is a two part glue that will bond to anything. If your at a track for racing or track days it’s nuts no not have some in your tool box. They make different ones for dry times. It can be a life saver at the track.
