Forgive me if this is in the wrong section, only just found the forum and this is my first post, still finding my way to navigate the site :)

Just picked up my first honda, 02 954. Ive always loved the look and the positive response from owners, particularly regarding the brakes.
My last bike was a 00 zx9, awesome bike, but glad to shift to the 954 with its smaller dimensions and wicked brakes.

Anyway, after picking the bike up about 300km away from my house (with a problem free test ride) it got me home no dramas, but as i turned it off in the driveway to open the garage, it wouldn't kick over. Had to clutch it, then recharge the battery. Upon testing voltage, all was not right. Inspected the stator and its obviously fried. My question is does anyone know where i can source a stator within Australia? They all seem to be from overseas :(

Thanks,
Eric

I would expect they'd be cheaper from overseas as well though? Is there a reason you specifically want to buy from within the country?
You could probably have yours rewound locally but I don't know if it'd be any cheaper.
US$215 + postage for OEM.
ALTERNATOR
Or A$375 + post in Oz.
Honda Motorcycle OEM Parts Search - Blue City Motorcycles

I would recommend you confirm that you do have a 954 stator before ordering a replacement. The 929 and 954 stator/rotor/cover are interchangeable as a unit but not the individual components.

There is also a thread here if you want to try rewinding it yourself.

Thanks for the reply mate. My only real reason for sourcing one in the country is getting it a bit faster, seeing the difference in price will convince me its worth shipping from overseas haha. Cheers for the heads up on the 929/954 interchangeability too, i wasn't aware of that at all. Any pointers for spotting a difference between the two? I will also make some enquiries about it locally for getting it rewound, probably not worth it id say, but always worth checking.
Thanks again,
Eric

I have had stuff from the US as quick as from Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne, sometimes even quicker.
These are my 929 and 954 stators, the differences are the bolt spacing and bore size. The 954 has the smaller bore size.
Just confirm that the stator you are buying has the same bore size and bolt spacing as your current one.
