Fill the tank up and set your trip meter on your bike to zero. Make sure you have the petcock set to on and not reserve and ride the bike until it runs out of gas. Do this a few times so that you can get a good average of how many miles you get out of a tank for your riding style. Then you will at least know how many miles you can get out of a tank of gas before you need to use the reserve. After that just make sure you set your trip meter on your gauges to zero every time you fill up and you will be able to judge how much gas you have left in your tank by how many miles you have riden. Simple but effective way of keeping track of fuel if you don't have a fuel gauge.
