Yep I crashed in one a few years back in the foothills above the dry lake you see all the damn car commercials in (Mojave, CA). The pilot miscalculated a turn/wind pressure and put a wingtip into the hillside. FYI, they don't crash very gracefully . . .

Didn't realize that you two were tying the knot - congratulations to both of you! (I probably missed it in another thread)... And no, never had the pleasure to experience a glider, but I'd love to! :thumb:

edit: and don't go pulling up an old post of mine that I've forgotten, regarding your wedding.

I flew a Grobe 103 out here in Tahapachi last year, it was a blast. So quiet its almost errie, but alot of fun. We caught a thermal and climbed 4,000, its amazing to see the climb meter rising in a plane with no motor! If you've ever had the chance to take the controls of say a Cesna, the comparison would be the Cesna was a 59 Caddy with worn shocks and sloppy sterring box, and the Grobe was a Ferrari.

Conq,
Spent quite a few hours in a couple of different gliders. Mostly Schweizers. The Fault Line Flyers are about 1/4 mile from my dad's house, and I was there every weekend. Most of the time I would help my friend assemble his plane, and then we would take one of the club planes up to see how the air was. We would land get his ready, and off he would go. Had I logged most of my time, I am sure I could have my license, plus the 20 hours of instructions I had years ago, but most of the time it was just for fun, so I never logged any. I do have a cool video where we were both in the same thermal, and spinning opposite each other. You will enjoy it.
