Hey yall im new here and i bought a 2003 cbr954rr about 5 months ago and everything was fine with it up until about 2 weeks ago. I was riding it around the town and it cut off and then came back on and kept doin this til it cut off. I called my friend to come pick me up and when i got home it started right up. It has done this twice so far and im not sure what is wrong. Whenever it cuts off and i try to start it again the display doesnt light up and the headlights dont come on and the fuel pump doesnt prime, but the nuetral light and the bright light idicator on the display comes on. I have checked the fuses and everything simple to check. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Recharge the battery and see if that doesn't fix it temporarily... because I suspect the problem might be charging-system related. If the battery is not getting enough charge, then it's running down as you ride the bike, and things will start going amok w/your electrics. Maybe while your bike is sitting, the battery is recovering enough to start the bike again, then draining as its running.
With the bike running, check the voltage output at the battery. Use a multi-meter across the battery terminals to measure this. Have the full beams on, and rev the bike to 4 or 5k RPMs. The voltage should be @13.5-15.0 V.
If it's not, then the voltage reg/rect is probably SNAFU.
Of course, you could always have other problems, like a short somewhere. But maybe this will give you something to check as a start.

i just rode it and it works fine now but it will do this again it has before.
i dont kno if the battery could be the problem or the regulator or rectifier
whenever it cuts off on me it will turn over but the fuel pump doesnt prime so it doesnt get any fuel to start. the display still shows up but the orange backlight doesnt come on. The tail lights still come on tho

What were the results of checking the voltage reg/rect?
well i dont have a multimeter
and i dont think it would be that because it will still turn over whenever it cuts off on me it still has power to the engine but the headlight and the display backlight dont come on but the taillight comes on tho

Man I am having pretty much the same problem...No fuel pump, headlights, or turn signals. Gauges still come up fine, neutral light then red light comes on but has no flashes. Tail light comes on and the back blinkers stay solid, wont blink. I took all connectors apart checked the grounds and everything. I was able to get the fuel pump going by overriding the stop relay, but it would run with no headlights and the rest of the problems where still there. I reset the ecm by unplugging both connectors and it worked for a day. Went for a couple hour ride and cut it off and now I have the samre problem again. Man I am clueless now
i have the same problem, unplugged the headlights and bike turned on, still trying to solve problem, found a burned wire in sub harness plug near gauges but still have problem, theres a connector that is just plugged but i dont see it in wiring schematic!

Its common for this POS to melt so i would just cut it out, splice all the grounds into one thick wire and ground it to the frame.

oh perfect, is that burnt wire a green one heading to that connector?

yikes, is that the connector to the main harness from the front?
yep...mine is burnt through at the same blue connector. I have a green that is still grounded then the black on the other side of connector is 12v? Half of my grounds in that yellow ground block are hot as well. Seems like we have the same problem, now how do we find the reason that the grounds are getting power?????I have checked for continuity on all connectors and everythings normal. I have looked all over the wiring schmatics and I havnt a clue man
