Howdy, I hope a found the spot to get some much needed info regarding a Honda 954 engine, and its electronics.

I am ATVer ( ok, I know... you guys prefer 2 wheels) lol. Well I have owned a few Honda scooters aswell, but lately in the last few years, jumping on the Quads and hitting the Dunes has taken most of my time, and ALL of my spare Hobby money

Anyway, after several years of modifying my 2001 Bombardier DS650, I decided to take out the stock motor and "slap in" a late model sport bike engine.... WELL.... after much research, I decided on the Honda 954 engine, and bought a "Car Kit" off of ebay. now over the last few months I have fabricated the quad frame and mated the Honda engine into the frame, and it look pretty damn good too I might add!! ANyway, to make a long story short- I am trying to start this bad boy, and I have NO fire to the plugs, and NO voltage to the fuel pump

I have a buddy that works at the local Honda shop, and is infact a mechanic, but the shop doesnt do alot of sport bike sales, and I would probably save HIS time by researching my problem on my own before I bug him to much. I did how ever mention my problem to him, and he suggested that I make sure I have everthing VITAL plugged in so that the ECU stays "happy" well I dont have the MAP sensor, nor the air temp sensor, but I have them on the way. I dont know if that would cause the ECU not the send the nessessary pulses out to the coils and Fuel pump, but I'm guessing that I will need them when it comes time to tune this Monster in.

I have checked out the Fuel stop relay and the Engine start relay, and they tested fine. I also read that the 954 has a anti theft system intergrated in the stock ignition keys( which I DO NOT have) and that the motor will not start without them SO can I get some keys made from Honda with my Engine serial numbers?? and am I missing anything else here???

I can t remeber the guys name, but he was in Hawaii. The shipping was a nightmare, but the Engine finally came , and looks to be in good shape. as promised.

The U.S. market bikes do not have the integrated security system. Is the tipover switch mounted in the proper position? If not, it won't fire, period.

I have the tip-over-switch mounted level with the flat side UP. which I believe to be correct. My buddy told me that it could be one of the air sensors, cause on a Goldwing the bike wont start without the air sensor plugged in, but he didnt know for sure if the sport bikes were the same or not.

I used as many Honda parts as possible just so I could aviod problems like this, but I guess I didnt think of everything, and I am used to working on a Big Single cylinder ROTAX, with a carb :~|

yes.

I think the basics have been covered: Kick stand kill switch, clutch switch, tip over switch. Are you running a stock air box? Theres a sensor in there, I think my 929 will start without it but the warning light is on. The kickstand and clutch switch wires you can easly jump, getting around the air temp or map probaly very hard/impossable.

Sidestand switch and make sure its in neutral when you try to start, or pull the clutch in ....

Man, I really appreciate all of yalls input, I had no idea that thier was so many relays,and sensors involved with these engines. But I know it will pay off in the end!

Nobody mentioned the kill switch off the handlebar control. You did mention that the fuel pump is not kicking on, correct?

And the hook is planted :rotfl: I'll bite anyway....more power is ALWAYS better and since a busa motor goes for waaaaay more money than a 954 motor it stands to reason that a 954 motor would be my choice too. Damn I would love to ride that quad!
