I crashed my bike like two weeks ago, nothing serious, I just had bruises and a headache after. All thanks to my gears I had no major injuries.

I have my helmet on when I fell from the ground and hit my head (that where I get my headache). They say when the helmet hit the ground or something solid it should be replaced. When I looked at my helmet I think its in good condition. So what do you think?

Should I buy one now? Or just ignore it and stick with my Arai helmet??

If you hit your head hard enough to have a headache, replace the helmet - its job is done.

Can you recommend any great brand of helmet?

HJC is my top choice but it does come down to personal fit.
I particularly like their fog mask which clips in and out as I ride a lot in wet weather.
Arai are the most uncomfortable lids I've ever worn, and I've worn some really nice very cheap lids as well. Try as many as you can until you find one you can wear all day long without feeling it. It needs to be a very snug fit though, especially when it's new as it will loosen up with use.

icons' aren't bad, that's what ive always worn. MX and street. but like BR said, they can have a different feel to them. so try some out and then find the best deal, and cheaper doesn't mean it wont do its job, but from what I've seen, the more you pay the more comfort has been put into it.

Thanks for that

So I looked into HJC see if I can find one that fits my budget.

I stumbled into this site

I think they also have wide collection of brands until I found HJC and there are also affordable ones.

Is it safe to buy helmets online? How should I know if it fits me well?
Check their return policy if you buy online but I would try them on in person at stores first. I have HJC and Zox now, nice fit and good price. Both are highly rated on the testing sites too.

Ditch the old helmet though and make sure no one else tries to use it. Like Bladeracer said, it's done it's job. Glad you made it through okay :thumb:

It's safe to buy anything online, but I would avoid that particular company as they are well known for screwing customers and lack of business ethics.

I definitely Agree with BR. It is best to try on as many helmets as possible. They all fit a differently, so try many brands.

I personally wouldnt buy a cheap helmet, but that is me. Shoei, Arai, Shark and HJC are really the big ones in my mind.

I have worn the first three... Own two Arai and two Shoei. For comfort I would probably pick a Shoei for myself, but I do like my Arai.

As mentioned, I've had several HJC helmets and REALLY liked them. For some reason I'm a size small with that brand, and a large on most others ...... Currently use an Arai Vector which is definitely lighter than the HJCs, and it's vented better too. Next lid will probably be another HJC with the built in sun visor though.

But the best helmet for YOU is the one that fits properly to your own shape of head. :thumb:

HJC and AGV are my top choices. Only because both shapes fit me perfectly.
I only buy helmets from a shop and I would agree with the 'through it away' comment. There are other uses for old helmets .....

lol, call it a hunch, but judging by the grammar, I don't think "donna" is who she says she is...

if I'm wrong... Icon all the way. It's 112* outside right now. Need all the ventilation I can get, and Icons have the most that I've seen

I am sorry for that I forgot I have already posted that site.

I am really sorry. It won't happen again. I have erased the link in my second post.

I am really sorry. :(
