I need to send some correspondence to someone in Mexico and need to know how to address the spanish equivalent for "Mr.", as in "Dear Mr. Jones" I know it's Senor, but is that spelled out or is it abbreviated like "Mr." is for "Mister"? Which would be considered proper form?

Fwiw, I took French in school...

AltaVista says:

Dear Mr. Jones = Sr. Querido Jones

Though that's probably not proper for an informal letter...
Thanks Conq. So "Sr. Querido" is the rough translation for "Mr."? Sure is a mouthful! :rotfl:

How about Nikka Jones? :hmm:
Smartass... ;)

Just had a call from my spanish expert (my daughter...glad to see she's learned something in college). She said Sr. is considered acceptable form if you know the person, otherwise Senor would be proper. Thanks for the help guys....
