Without wishing to derail this restoration thread, it is relevant that I'm just about to step outside and set up my 'pop up technical station.' Pics later!:wink
Not really Nigel , cost me £600 and £200 to put right so sold it for £800 , they are a strange bike with the Hydraulic tappets , oil system ( which runs round the frame to the oil cooler) and Shock suspension, so wanted to get to grips with one , wont be doing another ever again
Bill, another amazing job Very cool bike as well, no 750 CBX for us here stateside, so it was interesting to see. Reminded me of my buddy's 650 SC Nighthawk I did 2 years ago.
great progress Bill @MrPickwick got a small question I'm talking about this picture. as we see you have separated the 4 carb bodies. when you reassembled them, did you use new Orings for those connecting tubes/cylinders or can we use the old Orings without a problem ? thank you
@CBRbaby
Hi Sam , because I went to that extent, even though some of the O rings were alright I got a complete set of new rings and jets ,needle's etc, save's any heartache when putting it together, was a good choice as once the valves were lapped , new valve seals and timing done , it ran like a good'un
I understand that not everyone has good financial resources, but where and when possible, it's always best to replace components - especially perishables - when working through a teardown of any type.
I mean, if one goes to the dentist for dental work, the dentist is hardly going to remove a tooth, repair and replenish, and then refit the same one!!
