When you think about it and on my own experience ,I really dont see that many blades on the road and moreso the 929/954.I do see a lot of R1's and Gixxers and the odd zx10 so will this mean blade owners are in an exlcusive sector of the biking world . I dont know about anyone else but I feel quite proud of that probability.

in my town... 3 fireblades...in the entire town...all the rest (well, 90%) is gixxers, one ducati, and random assortment of kawis and yamahas...but only 3 fireblades, and i'm the only one with a 1000rr, the others are a 954 and a 900

Around west Tn I see alot of cbr's and two 954's and one 929. Most other bikes are gsxr's and a few R1's. Most bikes around here are metric crusiers and harley's . They out number the sport bikes 10 to 1 in my area.

Two people have told me "I have one of those", I've seen one on the street in a year and a half. I see Gixxers and Kawis all the time.

The squids love the GSXR's and I don't know why. The way squids drop like flies, you would think they would have a market that shrinks. I guess there is no shortage of village idiots.

Since I got my 08 Blade, I've only run into 2 other people with one. I see a few 04-07 blades and almost no other blades. Gixxers are everywhere, take for example where I work. I am in the navy and the pier that my ship is on has 7 06-07 gixxers, hell, two of my close friends ride gixers and my other riding buddy runs a 600rr. Blades are certainly rarer on the street.

I have seen a black one in the area but know of a few people in the area that have them (hevent seen them out on it) and we also have the added benefit of the rozzers having 2 blades as their replacements for the pan europeans they ditched last year.

At the moment though most people are feeling this economic credit crunch so the above are the only 08's I know about but there are a fair few older ones about but there is also an abundance of the other litre bikes (norfolk is fairly good for biking).

I am off out with the mrs to hunstanton for a nice ride and enjoy the sunny weather. Will let you know later how many I see :)

Well after reading everyones posts it seems the blade old or new is certainly a bit of a minority , but thats not a bad thing! Personally I like to have something a bit different , thats why I bought an erion 929 over here in the uk , dont see many of them here and Im not bothered about huge horses , had that on my blackbird.

Pretty common - been near the top of the litre sportsbikes for 10 years.
Had years where the R1 or GSX will beat it for sales, but never crush it.

Yeah if you go by sales figures the Blades arent rare, but how many do you see on the street. They arent as prevalent as gixxers, which makes them somewhat of a treat to see out and about. I love pulling up to a place with a bunch of bikes sitting outside and knowing that I probably have the only 08 Blade in the group.

The gixxer 600 and 750 are relatively cheap, and really easy to ride which would account for the numbers I see on the road, not to mention, like someone said before, the squids love em. I am glad I bought the Blade since I like being a bit different from the norm.

Give us a clue? , who or what are squids and I dont mean the tentacled type.On another topic , the thing with gixxers is the current look ( at first glance that is ) , theres nothing to tell them apart. I do like the 750 though , it seems a good compromise.

wiki says it best:

"Squid is a slang term used to describe an irresponsible motorcyclist. The term is common among motorcyclists in North America.
The term is generally used to describe a motorcyclist who rides aggressively, erratically or beyond their capabilities. Squids are perceived as overconfident and often ride without appropriate gear.
The origin of the term squid is ambiguous. It is commonly said to be a contraction of squirrely and kid, or less commonly, squished and kid."
"Stupidly Quick, Underdressed, Ignorant and Dangerous"
