Just curious how we all get online.

Feel free to post opinions about your carriers and costs.
That way we can all compare.

I personally had At&t broadband which is now Comcast.
Cost is $41.99 mo, plus $3.00 mo modem rental.
All-in-all, my service has been pretty consistant, and speeds usually avg. 750-900kbs.
They Advertise 1.5mbs.
Although the first 6mo it was like 3-6mbs!! No lie, even the tech almost crapped when he tested it.

This is in Richmond, VA

Verizon DSL in Mass, dl around 1.4Mbs, I pay 24.99/mo and modem was free. Pretty good deal since comcast cable in my area is 45/mo and isn't any faster. How can they compete??

My SBC DSL came in at 1.2 megabits/sec.  To download a 1MB file, 7.2 seconds.  I can't complain

I am using SBC dsl and a wireless router to a laptop. 29.99 a month, if you have sbc and are paying more than this call them and ask for a re-rate that's what I was told to do by an SBC rep.

My results are:

972.2 kilobits per second

This is about the fastest I have ever tested with this connection. I guess cable compared to DSL is like a red 929 compared to yellow 929's
