Got a 2001 cbr 929 rr will not start, fuel pump only works when the tank is grounded on frame. got spark but don't think injectors are working, wondering if it is my ecu? And how I can test ecu to know for sure? Please help!!

Maybe the earth wire to the pump is broken?
Have you tried spraying starter fluid into the intakes while cranking to see if it fires?
The only practical way is to find a running 929 and swap its ECU into yours.
The bike was fine one day and the next day it wouldn't start?

Yah pretty much, put battery on charge and after that it wouldn't start. I have a friend coming over with a 929 and I'm going try my ecu in his so I should no something then

Why did you have to put it on charge if it was running fine the day before?

Thought just after long winter wanted to make sure it had a full charge!


So it hasn't run for some months then?
Was anything done to the bike before you stopped using it?
The green wire.

yah took off front fairing to clean it up.
Checked the ecu in another bike work fine so thats not the problem.

Hi I was wondering if you finally resolved your problem and what was the cause(s) of all that!
I am going though the same hell right now. I experienced the same problem but while riding. The bike is at the mechanics since February 12!!
I would love to read the happy end of your story!

i did get it fixed actually and the fix was very easy. In your wiring harnes about 6 inches up from your battery towards the front of the bike there is a orange clip that holds most of the grounds and when i open it it was coroded bad so i cleaned up the connections and it started first thing and have not had a problem since.

Ok. Someone please help. I am new here but my buddy has done a lot to his bike wwith advice from the forum.*
I have an 03 cbr 954rr stunted out. Just bought it from some yahoo. It was running poorly and always smelling like gas. I got about 35 miles to the tank so swapped spark plugs. It has a thum throttle and I tightened the cable and then wheelies got a little scary. I wanted to hook the bike up and make it really cool. Under the seat was a wiring nightmare. The harness that went to all the lights and stuff in the back was only using 2 wires for the back light that was all rigged up. So I put the running light on a switch and cut them out. Then bike wouldnt start. Foumd that fuel pump wasnt coming 9n so wired that to a switch. It came on but still wouldnt start. Research showed I might have a bad fpr. Sure enough took vac line off and it was pouring gas. So that explained bad perfomance at low rpms and stuttering. Went to junk yard and found one on a 93 accord replaced and still wont start. My buddy says its the wires I cut and I think he is right but it just doesnt make any sense when they were only attatched to the light. Please help. That bike is*fun*and people here in stl think a 954 is a bad ass stunt bike. Really want to get back to the streets asap.

I have a Cbr 954 and not sure if I can take the ecu to get tested somewhere or if I can myself....When I get the rpms up to about 12 or 13 it just drops to zero...I pull in the clutch and coast then it pops back up...I've changed spark plugs, and air filter.. I've been told the ecu or ecm was most likely the issue... Any help would be appreciated.

Here's what I've learned messing with computer bikes. Every wire is in some loop with other jobbers completing a circuit. So you might cut a wire that was in line with the spark, fuel pump, injector, or the ignition group and I'd don't really care about those squid accessory parts you need, you just had to cut a computer bike's wire up and now it's a boat anchor just like that.

Undo any wiring done to the bike, always run a remote wire system off the battery, not a wire touched on a computer bike or here we are.

Computers might have their own fault code for being bad. Bike runs, starts, has no codes, it's not the ECU per say but to look for loose battery cable terminals or a chemical corrosion at the battery posts or connector contacts turning green at the pins. So even if the grounds look good and tight, sometimes the chemical under the ground strap could show an ECU acting up, but more the contacts turning green/white powder like and cause a resistance to occur.
