I was into the dentist today too, I had some preventative work done, a minor pit filled on two rear molars and a small ridge filled/smoothed on my front tooth, it was alright for the dentist I guess, no pain anyways :D

a couple weeks ago a chipped a tooth and after that it hurt so much if I bit down on it when eating so I had to get it fixed. my mom told me about a dentist a friend of hers goes to (because the 2 previous dentists I have gone to in my life are complete hacks). So I went this past thursday. she took x-rays and I had a cavity that looked really deep but she was gonna try to save the tooth anyway. So as she was drilling she hit the nerve (only hurt a tiny bit then she gave me a little more novacaine and no more pain). So she filled it with a medicated filling that might last up to a year and I have to go to an oral surgeon and eithe get it pulled or have a root canal. I think I'll go with the root canal cause I don't want to have an empty spot like some hick. She said it'll be like $2000 so I gotta get a job with insurance. But she was actually really good and I didn't think the words good and dentist could coexist.

Now, my predecessor and his horse wouldn't take kindly to that sentiment at all!

However, I take no ill feelings myself as I am more of a knife man myself, like Doc.

If you've not seen the movie 'Wyatt Earp' with Kev Costner, it's worth the rental while getting over whatever your dentist's horse did. (Blazing Saddles type horse?)

I got the first part of a crown done. Novocaine is mostly worn off, hurts like a mofo. As if that wasn't bad enough, the stuff they make the mold with tastes worse than 100k old brake fluid(don't ask)

Me too but my new significant other is a dental assistant so i visit the office quite regularly to see her, I still cringe just at the sound of the drill.... its terrible, she took molds of my teeth for a bleaching kit and i nearly threw up first from the nervousness of being at the dentist and the taste of the cement, man i hate it. then she comes home and tells me stories... uhhhgg. :puke:

Sorry to hear that. I truly hope you feel better soon.

Somebody needs to photochop ND's avatar to show him how good he'll look eventually with that gold toof and big diamond in the front of his mouth. It'll be worth it!

The reason they make that impression material taste like :shit: is because if it tasted good, everybody would be doing it...and there goes the exclusivity and bling factor. This way, only the few, the proud and the unfortunate get to do it!

For those reading who don't know, I have a dental degree but I don't practice dentistry. My specialty and subspecialty don't allow me to do that, which is good...because I hate going to the dentist too!

So my parents are financially secure, own multiple rentals all paid for but as a consequence self employed. No dental insurance. For years my mom and dad have crossed the border into Tiajuana to have dental work done. Nice little chick the daughter of the dentist the parents started with.

So I go back there with them in 2000 as I was a contractor without dental. She finds that my pain could be from a wisdom tooth aimed at a molar. Stupid me I tell her I can still feel after the first shots of novacaine......got me some more novacaine. So I have a moderately attractive 30 something dentist wrenching my head around with all her might trying to get a wisdom tooth. This lasted about 25 minutes.

$22 dollars later I am leaving with a small vial of what I think is novacain in my pocket and the instructions to dam it on the socket and to take some pain killers. My head was swimming for the next few hours.

2 days later I am consistently on 600mg ibuprofen at all times. I say F**k it! I pound 3 newcastles and start to fish around with tweezers in the socket and pull a sliver of tooth!

Now I use my wifes dentist and her dental insurance. The experience is not nearly as bad.
