I have a 96 CBR 900 and I'm wanting to do a tail swap and single sided swing arm swap. I ordered the VFR swing arm and I'm waiting for it now. My question, however, is about the tail swap. I was wondering if a CBR 1000 tail 04-07 would fit my bike? If not would I need a subframe from the CBR 1000 or will that not work as well? If it could be a direct fit I'd be more than happy but since I haven't seen anyone else with it I have no idea. I've only seen R1 and Gsxr tail swaps for the 900. If anyone can direct me to a thread or has any info I'd be extremely greatful. Thanks.

Go to page 3 and look at this thread: GSXR 600 K5 tail conversion
He shows step by step how he did it. He is doing an incredibly precise and meticulous job.
There is another thread by CBRRRT that shows a r1 tail conversion and swingarm conversion. It should also link to his other forum.
Good luck

i have a 929 with a 1k tail and rc51 wheels.
Did you have to buy the sub frame for the 1K? How much fabricating did you have to do? I want to find out about how much time and money I'm gonna have to put into this before I start. With the swing arm... it's already ordered so I'm gonna do it regardless but depending on how complicated the tail swap will determine which tail I put on and whether I'm gonna need help or not. I've found threads on how to put on an R1 and Gsxr tail so I can follow those if I decide to go with those tails but I'd prefer a 1000 cbr tail. Thanks for the advice.
