I have a yr 2000 thunder chicken it runs as sweet as a dream most of the time. but then :evilaugh: it will start to cough and splutter and shut down one cylinder, if you try to drive through it by opening up the throttle it gets worse. but if i shut the throttle off and coast for a couple of seconds and let it idle it just picks itself up and runs perfect again no problems. if i start it up in the morning and let it idle to warm up close off the choke and start to ride it rides great i ride along about 60 mph after a short while it starts the above problem so i do the shut down throttle and coast thing and then i drop down a couple of gears and crack it open and it is up 130mph without a problem, then it is perfect again, i use it for motorcycle instruction and follow pupils around in traffic at 20 to 30 mph and have no problems, so if any body has any suggestions i would love to hear from you:thumb:

sounds like a bit of a fuel blockage on on cylinder.

as coasting allows the fuel level to recover

check fuel pipes and carb etc

i guess a thunder chicken is a firestorm?

yes it is a VTR firestorm i used to have an Urban tiger 900RRR myself and sold it big mistake. but i just love the sound of the Vtwin with Race cans on. Thank you for your help its kinda what i suspected but you know someone else may have had the same problem and tells you exactly what it could be. i was down in Moulton seas end a while ago and never saw another bike. Thank you
