I bought a wrecked 2002 CBR 954 RR. I also bought a motor and swingarm off a 2000 929.

I'm planning on putting the 929 motor in the 954, but I just needed to know what would have to be changed.

The 954 is complete, but the engine case and swingarm are damaged (swingarm was hit and broke away from engine).

I was going to just use all of the 954 parts on the bare 929 motor and swingarm, but I was wondering what else I would have to change. Will I have to use the 929 throttle bodies? What about the airbox?

Can anyone help me out?

My opinion is: more than 70% they are similar, one think Manual for them is one !:thumb:

Just did this the opposite way, I put a 954 engine in my 929. I am pretty sure you will need to use the 954 air box, and I would probably use the 954 throttle bodies with the 954 ecu as well. I tried to use the 954 bodies with my 929 ecu and they did not get along all that well (the throttle bodies were from a cali model which probably didn't help much). other than that everything should just bolt right up. I had to change some sensors over due to wire lengths but I don't think you should have that problem.

Keep the 954 throttle bodies as the main harnesses are different and the 954 throttle bodies are bigger anyway - I have them on my 929.
I _think_ you'll have to use the 954 airbox if you're running a 954 tank.
If the rear subframe is damaged you can't use a 929 subframe.

I lived in the US for a couple of years, they had a go at metric but decided to go back to what they knew. Americans are like that, not just measure but language as well... I'm sure you realize:rotfl:

Funny thing is in building and construction, they have metricized inches, in that a tape measure for example reads 38 inches, not 3 feet 2 inches. So in a sense they use inches in metric format. Smart!

As you all probably know to convert inches to metric multiply inches X 2.54 for centimeters or 25.4 for millimeters. Likewise, an inch is centimeters multiplied by .3937:)

They have a metric money system though so I can't see why they can't get their minds around it. The US military is metric isn't it?
One thing I've long wondered about...
The US (and some other countries) ride on the right side of the road. We ride on the left side of the road. On the odd occasion I've parked on the right side of a cambered road the bike stands up closer to vertical and threatens to topple over due to the camber.
Why don't these countries switch to RHS kickstands?
Does the US have cambered roads?

I love the fact that your always thinking Larry.

Not only does the stand put the bike on an uneasy camber, it puts the user in the path of the traffic coming up from behind. Because, that's the side you get-off it right? You make me laugh old Son!

One of the manufacturers should pick you up, and whack you in the tech department! Cheers.

I hadn't even thought of the danger part of it :)
When bikes become my job I guarantee I'll lose interest in them!

I would never ever want to race for money as I simply wouldn't enjoy it anymore.
I wouldn't enjoy fixing other people's bikes for money either.

I bought a 2000 cbr 929 the motor is blown I have been looking at my options for replacing the motor what I need to know is will the 2002 cbr 954 motor bolt up in the frame if so will I need to change out the entire wiring harness if you have any in site or tips please respond

Yes, the engines are interchangeable. You don't need anything other than the engine.
