Is the intake flap in the air box open or closed when all the marks line up? I'd adjusted the flap a couple of weeks ago as it was closed and therefore did not move when over 3000 rpm. After adjustment was made and marks lined up the flap is open and closes when 3000 rpm reached.I've saved a pdf file in a recent thread about servicing the 929 but the chapter about the intake flap etc is a bit confusing. Anyone clear this subject up?

The flap should stay closed until 8000rpm.

I've rechecked everything to do with both valves and everything lines up on both the exhaust and intake. Before the engine reaches 3000 the flap is horizontal in the airbox, then at 3000 the flap closes ( vertical ) and the exhaust pulley moves to the upper mark. Rev to 8000 , the flap opens again ( horizontal ) and the exhaust pulley moves 180 degrees to the bottom pulley mark. Looking at everything else this seems to be the correct position for both valves. I can actually feel a difference now as before I was not getting that sweet spot when you accelerate. Can anyone out there agree with the above and let me know any different. Thanks in advance.

I can only go by what the OEM manual says as I removed mine long ago.
If set up according to the manual the engine should only be breathing through the lower openings until the flap opens at 8000rpm when the valve turns counter-clockwise.
