Hi to all....:thumb:

Has anyone raced on the circuit with 1000RR???

How does the electronic steering damper hold up??

Does the unit work well under hard riding or do i remove and fit standard bolt on?:idunno:

I have a friend that rides with the electronic damper during trackdays. Granted it is not racing, but he has not said anything bad about the unit.

It works OK, but due to it not being adjustable (without digging into the ECU) an aftermarket one may suit you better, if you've got the spare cash. Myself, I'll leave it on until I feel its holding me back.

I rode my buddys 1000rr at the track and the stock damper was horrible, then he replaced it with a GPR and it was a night and day difference!! Definetly worth the money IMHO.

I have the '05. The stock unit is ok for the street but at the track it is not adjustable and is way too tight going into fast sweepers.
I have hit corners I thought I wasn't going to make because it was so stiff. :eek:
I am changing mine out this year when I get some cash...

Remember that you have to either take the old one apart and keep the electronics or get some resistors...

Ive been racing with it and its not too bad, I love how its not there at slow speed but works when you want it too. I wish I had the HRC harness and data cable, then I could remap it... I raced last weekend at Oran Park which is quite bumpy.

The one thing I have noticed is that if you short shift and use a higher gear it is more likely to head shake as there is a map for accelaration and one constant speed and it stiffens up the harder you accelarate so its best to be hard on the gas over bumpy sections of track. Usually get the most headshake on my warm up lap..

I cant say that I have found it too stiff at high speed as others have metioned? Although my bike is set up very aggressively and probably needs quite a stiff damper.

Try running it with the damper disconnected and you'll see--mostly feel--a huge change. I never thought I felt mine until I had to remove it for a couple laps... talk about an eye-opener.

I had 65 laps at Assen on Monday and tuesday and the bike worked well, although standard susspension has to go. Also rear sprocket has to go up to a 46. (to match the punch of the new R1's out the corners).

As Jungleboy said the only thing i have found is that high speed aggressive cornering and high rev gear change there is a little head shake. Not such a problem but im at Zandvoort next week, which is an up and down bumpy track, for more testing.

Has anyone put a Scott's Steering Damper on a 919? I want one to stop the head shake when I let go of the bars...also to stop the twitchy-ness when running over rough asphault when leaned over. I put one on another of my bikes and it made that bike feel like whole new (and better) machine.

From my experience on the track I really have not had any real problems with the stearing damper. Also, I don't know of any aftermarked damper available except for the hyperpro (which I really don't trust). The hyperpro actually has the sensor just like the stock one but is also has the manual adjustments...kinda wierd??? I've taken my to the bumpiest tracks in california and there is no way that the damper (2006 model) is a piece of $H*T. I have a R1 also with a scotts on it and I get way more headshake even on the stiffest settings....but you do have to up up on the RPM's.

go aftermarket. the stock HESD makes you work too hard at low speeds and doesn't do its job at race speed. I have a GPR on mine with no complaints. i wish scotts would make one for the 1000rr already.

One month ago got some front end lift on rough tarmack, what cause massive tank slapping. so, the season is ended up for me. scott damper never let this before.
hesd can't handle racing business.
